A 400-square-foot New York pied-à-terre balances pre-war character, intelligent functionality and contemporary design.

An extensive renovation revealed original brick walls and twelve-foot ceilings, establishing the architectural character of the compact residence. Pocket doors, integrated storage and a custom kitchen maximize every inch, while a marble-clad island incorporates dining for four. Black chevron floors, geometric marble detailing and patterned drapery introduce contrast and personality within the monochromatic interior.
