ART IN LIFE - LIGHT ON WHITE
William Genske was born in Sevilla, Spain and lived on the Costa del Sol until the late seventies. Photography was a big part of his early life. "I recall my father had a Hasselblad Kit - the type of camera you look down into - I was fascinated. I loved the results and I enjoyed looking at the pictures for years afterward. I thought the whole process was wonderful".

While in boarding school in England he joined the photography society. "It was one of the many extra-curricular activities that were made available to me. I chose it immediately. We had old equipment and very little film. It was a great luxury to spend some time in a dark room and to watch the pictures develop. It was messy, expensive and time consuming, but I loved it".

"Since then there have been many changes in the world of photography. The advent of digital equipment and computer software has opened up a whole new universe to expand into. There are fewer rules."

After 2 1/2 decades of being away from home, William returned to Spain to live in 2005. "There is nothing like finding Art in Life. It is all around me all the time - I just have to take the time to capture it. Architect Richard Meier talks about the effect of Light on White. In Spain we have plenty of both - and it is the theme of my work".
